Several projects where BOSTOK members are involved for long periods of time

We want to pick up and to present the experiences of the people who fleed their homes and who chose to move abroad in order to avoid retaliations by Spanish order forces, fearing of suffering repression and abuses of human rights. Once dictator Franco passed away and transition to democracy started, political prisoners were released from prison and many refugees were able to return to their homes, but since ETA continued its armed activity, the persecution of its activists by the Spanish police did not stopped and the existence of refugees has been a constant ever since then. The purpose of this project is to publicize the situation today spanning the exiles; documenting their lives, photograph it, so that they can explain firsthand their situation and social problems faced.

“Episodes from our history” is a direct testimony of the political conflict that the Basque Country is experiencing; a silent witness of the last three decades, a work that allows us to review and discover the past in the present. Interesting and rewarding work for those who lived in those times as well as for younger people.

Offers the opportunity to see more than 300 photographs taken during the last three decades of the political conflict. It will serve to remind and review what happened to those who lived in those times, and the perfect opportunity for younger people to learn about our recent past.
